Journey to Peru

Have YOU been to Tuesdays at McCrary?

Students who visit are having the opportunity to learn about various topics as well as select books. There are many free books for students; students are also able to check out a book from the media center.

Last night as we took a Journey to Peru, students learned about Peru's geographical location, listened to the book, Carolina's Gift, and heard how journaling can help you remember important (or even the not so important) events in your life. Students left with their very own journal complete with an Incan symbol, books and a yummy taste of a Peruvian dish. I hope that you are at McCrary next Tuesday night!!

Our Tuesdays at McCrary promise to be engaging for all that attend!

Our media center will open at 4:00. during this time, students will be able to choose a book to check out. From 5:00 until 6:00, various teachers will lead activities centered around books.

The event is open to all students--kindergarten through fifth grade. Make sure to attend as many as you can!

June 29, 2010--What to do on summer vacation ? . ? . ?--Join us as we "dig" into a story, visit McCrary's very own garden (and maybe pick a vegetable or two), and plant a terrarium to take home.

July 6, 2010--Celebrate America!--Join us as we learn more about our great country, the United States of America and create fireworks art.

July 13, 2010--Journey to Peru--Ms. Haywood will share information about Peru as students take a "journey" to Peru via her son's blog as he travels the country. Then students will create their own journal. Perhaps, they will even post an entry to this blog!

July 20, 2010--We Are Unique!--Loop? Whorl? Arch? Which describes your fingerprint? Learn more about how fingerprints make us very unique and create a picture representative of you using your fingerprints.

July 27, 2010--Fireflies for Nathan--Examine the book, Fireflies for Nathan and make a firefly catcher.

August 3, 2010--The Great Outdoors--Stories, snacks, crafts and games around the "campfire." Come and enjoy the last Tuesdays at McCrary!

Tuesdays at McCrary

Attention all students and parents! Tuesdays, beginning June 29th through August 3rd, the media center will be open from 4:00-6:00 for students to come and check out a book. There are also some books students are able to take home and keep!

A special program will begin at 5:00 each Tuesday. These special programs promise to be engaging and full of learning for all McCrary students--kindergarten through fifth grade. Each Tuesday night will focus on a different theme with books and projects.
